IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane
King
July 28, 1942 – September 1, 2024
Mary Diane Carver King, age 82, passed away on September 1, 2024. Born on July 28, 1942, in Nephi, Utah, Diane was known for her caring nature and her exceptional ability to love and care for her family and friends.
A proud alumna of BYHigh in Provo, where she graduated as Co-Valedictorian, Diane carried the discipline and excellence of her early educational achievements throughout her life. She was an accomplished seamstress, often crafting her own clothes as well as clothes for her daughters and numerous dolls and accessories. Diane's creativity also shone through in her poetry, family songs and her meticulous, detailed personal journals, which she maintained over the years. Diane's adventurous spirit was reflected in her love for family outings, whether it was camping at Tony Grove in Logan Canyon, hiking in the Uintahs, or water skiing at Lake Powell.
Her musical talents were evident from a young age. Starting piano lessons at six, she quickly became the accompanist in her primary class by the age of nine. Diane's musical journey was marked by a memorable experience playing the organ in the Carthage Jail during a road trip to Iowa. The opportunity she had to play the organ in the Timpanogas Temple was one she cherished deeply. For 23 years Diane enjoyed her work with staff and students at Canyon View Jr. High School.
Diane's life was filled with love and laughter, especially with her grandchildren with whom she shared piano duets, playing cars and games on the floor and many birthday dinner dates. The favorite place in her home was the fridge – not for the drinks inside, but for the family pictures that she posted and changed frequently on the front. Her annual Christmas fruitcakes, frosted personally and delivered to neighbors, were legendary in her neighborhood.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mary Carver; brothers Gary and Jim Carver; and daughter, Lisa King. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Kristine (Norman) Weldon, Stephanie (Rob Keddington) King, Robert (Sheri) King, David (Sydney) King, Alan (Ashley) King, and Jared (Tammy) King; 28 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. The family will forever be grateful to Linda Otte, a dear friend (sister really) for the friendship, love and great care she gave to Diane.
She will be remembered as one who shared great kindness and love, whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of caring and the deep bonds of family.
