Obituary

Doris Ellen Bayly Brower, age 92 of Orem passed away June 3, 2018. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Aspen 6 th Ward, 1550 North 1100 West, Orem. Family and friends may visit prior to services from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment and a family memorial will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Restlawn Cemetery, 2864 South 5 th Avenue, Pocatello, ID  83204. Doris Ellen Bayly Brower 1925-2018             Doris Ellen Bayly Brower, was born on June 17, 1925, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Maitland Dae Bayly and Edna Charlotte Bright.  She was a very active girl, always wanting to be outdoors and playing sports  She was advanced two grades in school, graduating from Pocatello High School at the age of fifteen.             She met her husband, Grant Crapo Brower, in 1942.  Grant joined the Army Air Corps  and they subsequently got married in 1943.  They were sealed in the Logan Temple in 1944.  After the war, they lived in Pocatello where Grant set up his architectural practice.  They have six children.             Doris enrolled at Idaho State College (now University) in 1957 and graduated with honors and a degree in Art and English Literature.  In 1972, Grant was offered a position with the LDS Church as the architect over chapel design in the United States and Canada.  They moved to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah,  where Grant passed away in 1977.              She moved back to Pocatello and then to Orem, Utah, getting a position at Brigham Young University in the religion department, working with Truman Madsen.  She was appointed the project coordinator of the Encyclopedia of Mormonism, working with Robert Mathews, Jack Welch, Elder Neil Maxwell, Elder Jeffery Holland, Elder Dallin Oaks and many others.             She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After her husband's death, she served two missions, one in the Missouri Kansas City  Mission and the Laie Hawaii Temple.  She is known for her quilting, gardening, literary skills and indexing.             Doris is preceded in death by her two sisters and two grandchildren.  She is survived by her brother, Maitland Douglas Bayly, and six children:  Maitland Dirk (Cheryl), Gerald Grant (Annette), Ellen Suzanne (Steven Ricks), Randall Mark, Lani Elizabeth, Norman Bayly (Carla), 24 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.             Arrangements are by Walker-Sanderson Funeral Home, 606 North 800 North, Orem, Utah.  Viewing will be Friday, June 8, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Orem Utah Aspen 6 th Ward chapel, 1550 North 1100 West.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m.             A remembrance gathering will be held in Pocatello, Idaho, at the chapel on Monte Vista and Jefferson on Friday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m.,with grave side services and internment at the Restlawn Cemetery on Saturday, June 9,  at 11:00 a.m.
