IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Miller
Daymont
November 6, 1936 – September 6, 2024
Dorothy Fay Daymont was born on November 6, 1936, and passed away in Provo, Utah on September 6, 2024. She was 87. Dorothy was born in St. Croix, Wisconsin, and grew up in Cameron, WI, where her parents of 14 children had a dairy farm. She moved to Chicago as a young adult and spent much of her life in FL, living in Tampa, Ft. Myers and Sarasota. In the last few years of her life, she moved to Orem, UT, near her sons and grandchildren.
Dorothy is mom to 4 children-Mark Daymont, Karen (Patrick) Conway, David (Melissa) Daymont and Janet (Paul) Otto. Stepchildren from her second marriage are Kevin (Denise) Daymont, Jeffrey (Amber) Daymont, and Elizabeth (Pete Johnston) Daymont. She is survived by siblings- Richard (Lois) Miller, Barbara (Bill) Jahnke, Beverly (Glenn) Berger, and Judy Goodwin, all from Wisconsin. She left behind 12 living grandchildren—Alicia (Jason) Smith, Tamera (Kendall) Martin, Bradley (Emma) Reed, Carson Reed, Adam Otto, Seth (Emma) Otto, Gabe (Savannah) Otto, Gracye (David) Laughter, Bella Otto, Elliana Otto, Luke Otto and Waverly Daymont. Her great grandchildren (8 boys) ---Jeremy, Phoenix, Archer, Benjamin, Brian, Emmett, Logan and Declan. Along with many, many nieces and nephews that would fill up pages and pages. She leaves a great progeny of hard-working, creative and energetic souls. Her Mother, Grace Elizabeth (McKnight) Miller and Father, Roy Vernell Miller, were passed on, along with her first husband, Lowell Daymont and her second husband, John Daymont. Siblings that have gone before her include Elwood Miller, Ardis Peterson, Arlene Pickard, Peggy Reed, Gretta Parent, Marilyn Kiekhoefer, Duane Miller, Delores Miller, and Sheryl DeMatteis.
She met the love of her life, Lowell Daymont, when she was a young adult in Chicago and flew to Germany to marry him while he served in the Army Band in 1960. They were married in Switzerland and spoke very fondly of their time there in Germany. The highlight of any evening was to watch all the slides from that special time of theirs. Lowell passed away in 1998 from cancer and she then married Lowell's brother, John, in 2015, who had also lost his wife to cancer. She was grateful not to have to change her name! John passed away in January of this year. She was blessed to have wonderful husbands, who watched over her and took care of her.
Her happiest times and memories are of her family, which is how she spent her life-nurturing, serving, loving and visiting with them. She served flawlessly at church, spending much of her time with the children as Primary President, even until she was 80. She also served the women of the church as Stake Relief Society President and Ward Relief Society President many times. She loved to organize and come up with ideas like having Marriage Conferences and planning dinners and getting involved in all the activities. Her life was not full unless she was serving. She loved the Lord and studied the scriptures all her days.
She was a friend to all and never let anyone sit in a corner alone or not invite people to her annual Christmas Eve party. She always planned an evening of entertainment and food. Her hallmark event was to sing carols at one of the local nursing homes.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her service to others and her desire to nurture and care for those around her.
Her funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, at 10:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7001 Beneva Rd., Sarasota, FL.
