Obituary

Beloved Mother, Wife, Sister and Friend, Dorothy Iola Lott Johnson left this earth peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20, 2019. She was born on April 10, 1939 in Durango, Colorado to Willard and Iola Lott. Dorothy's father held a position as a surveyor with the U.S. government so she moved many times as an adolescent, having the benefit of experiencing many places and people. Her time spent with Native Americans influenced her deeply. She graduated High School on May 28, 1957 in Mobridge, South Dakota. Dorothy went on to earn her nursing degree from Brigham Young University in June of 1961. While beginning her career at Utah Valley Hospital, Dorothy cared for a charming, handsome patient who became the love of her life and lifelong partner. On December 28, 1965 Tobe and Dorothy were married and later sealed in the Provo Temple. Dorothy enjoyed learning and challenged herself to teach others, she held several positions in the LDS church where she taught children and adults alike. She was an accomplished seamstress and baker. Dorothy loved to knit and crochet, spending evenings making mittens and hats for children. Along with caring for anyone ailing, Dorothy became a self taught herbalist blazing a widely followed trail in natural care. Dorothy was passionate about her beliefs and spirituality, inspiring others with her inner strength. Her generous nature and welcoming presence was appreciated by all who crossed her path. The world was indeed better for Dorothy having lived in it. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, brother Earl and husband Reed Tobe Johnson. She is survived by her brothers, Claude and Wayne Lott and her three children, Shauna, Julia and Lafe. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the amazing women who loved and cared for Dorothy as their own. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 24,, 2019 from 6pm-8pm with a musical performance at 7pm followed by an opportunity to share reflections honoring Dorothy at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North Orem. Dorothy will be buried at Orem Cemetery on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 2pm.  Memories may be shared, and condolences offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com .
