Edice Allred, beloved wife and mother died peacefully at her home Sunday, December 12, 2021 in Provo Utah. She was 91 years old.
Edice was born on a farm in Fountain Green Utah to parents Hazel and Perry Earl Allred on September 9, 1930. Growing up on a farm there was always lots to do and she told great stories of taking care of the chickens, cows and sheep. Lamb Day in Fountain Green was always the favorite event of the year.
While at a dance at The Bungalow in Moroni Utah Edice met Curtis Von Allred. They married in 1952 and made their life in the military. She was a strong military wife for 23 years and lived in many places including France where her 2nd daughter Teddy was born.
Edice's maiden name was also Allred so this caused confusion on any document that required her maiden name and was always kicked out for errors and she had to explain that was correct.
When they retired from the Military they settled in Provo Utah. Edice worked at Sils Seafood Grotto for many years and eventually bought the place. In the 1970's that was THE place to go for dinner after special occasions like graduations and school dances. She also worked at the Golden Spike restaurant in Provo. She had an infectious smile and a warmth about her and everyone in town knew and loved Edice.
Later in life she developed a neurological disorder that robbed her of her balance. Her husband Von was devoted to her and was her primary caregiver for many years. Theirs was a true love story that lasted 70 years.
Edice is survived by her husband Curtis Von Allred, her 4 children Yvonne Brakey, Teddy Sue Angus, David Allred and Rebecca Kaltenback, 10 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren along with her two living siblings Susan Jackman and Robert Allred.
A graveside service will be performed on Saturday, December 18th at 1pm in the Spring City Cemetery in Spring City Utah.
