Edward A. Hargis passed away early on August 4, 2019 at age 68.  Born June 10 th , 1951 in Lynwood, California to mother Flora Elizabeth Adams and father Clay Pierce Hargis. Ed spent most of his childhood at Sea where his parents raised Ed and his brother David on a Sail Boat.  Although they journeyed to many places they often put into port at or near Redondo Beach, California.  Because of this Ed had a passion for the ocean, sailing, and the quiet solitude that only the ocean seemed to offer.  He rarely enjoyed the company of others preferring to keep to himself whenever possible.  Ed was not a fan of big crowds or parties.  On rare occasions he would venture a conversation and friendship with a few select people.  He loved camping and the great outdoors.  Ed was known to disappear for long periods of time without letting people know where he was going or how long he would be gone.  He served honorably in the US Military, SP4-23rd Engineering Battalion in the ARMY and after having completed his military assignment, Ed traveled and worked several jobs as a handyman and trades craftsman.  His latest job was working as a Nautical Mechanic at King Harbor in Redondo Beach where he worked for several years.  After several challenges with his declining health Ed moved to Utah.  His last place of residence was the Seville where despite several occasions to socialize, Ed kept to himself.  When his health declined further, he spent the remainder of his days at Heritage Care Center in American Fork, Utah where he passed away. Ed will be buried at Utah Veterans Memorial Park 17111 South Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, UT 84065 at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors and a small graveside service.
