Obituary

Elda Gayle Edwards, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on September 5, 1950, to James Keith and Lucille Ahlstrom in Provo, Utah, Gayle spent her childhood roaming the foothills of Provo, riding horses, and playing marbles with her classmates.

Gayle graduated from Provo High School in 1968. On August 20, 1968, Gayle married the love of her life, James Edwards. After many adventures and starting a family she attended The Tech and received her associate's degree in Accounting. Gayle worked in many roles throughout her life and continued to work until July 2024.

Gayle and James had seven children, who they were devoted to and cherished every moment spent with their family. Her children remember her as a nurturing and compassionate figure who always put their needs above her own.

Gayle was an active member of the Northern Utah Mustang Owners Association. She had a fondness for the classics and enjoyed attending car shows and events with fellow enthusiasts. Her love for Mustangs was more than just a hobby; it was a way for her to connect with others and share her joy.

Gayle had a profound love for animals, and this passion was evident in everything she did. Her home was always filled with the joy and warmth of her furry friends, her children often joked that the dogs were treated better than they were. She loved spending time in the outdoors at the family property, where there was always shenanigans going on. She loved to garden in her yard, and was always looking at what flowers she wanted to plant.

Gayle and her husband loved to travel and called Jamaica their second home. Gayle loved the people they encountered there and would often bring presents for their families when they would visit, Gayle's suitcase had more stuff for the people there than she did for herself.

Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and dedication. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her seven children and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a reminder of the importance of loving and caring for one another.

Gayle is survived by her children Susie (Dave) Sorensen, Gayle (Jody) Lemon, Brandy Serine, James Edwards Jr, Misty (Tracy) McCaig, Ashlynn Edwards, Anna Edwards, Her 20 grandchildren, and a great grandchild, Her sisters Sharon Vervaet and Heidi Ahlstrom, and brother Brent Ahlstrom.

Gayle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edwards, her parents, James Keith and Lucille Ahlstrom, brothers James K and Jeff Ahlstrom, a sister LaDene Ahlstrom, her son-in-law Jeff Ammon, and her grandson Tyler Ammon, and we can't forget about her many beloved pets.

As we remember her, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on the lives of so many. Her love for her family, her passion for animals, and her commitment to her friends will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she gave to the world.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date more information will be provided.
