Eldon Ray Willes - a teacher to thousands, a mentor to many and friend to all - died in American Fork, Utah on November 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and devoted Children. He was 89.
Born May 1, 1932, in McGill Nevada to Sydney Bruce Willes and Elma Hansen Willes.
Eldon grew up in Benjamín Utah where he met the love of his life Sharon Huff Willes, daughter of Archie and Lucile Huff.
Educated at Spanish Fork High School and Brigham Young University. He served his country which he loved and respected in the Navy during the Korean-Conflict. He also served a mission for the LDS Church in the Southern States Mission. After completing his service to his country and church he returned home to marry his sweetheart Sharon Huff Willes.
Eldon taught at Pleasant Grove Junior High School for 31 years. He was an avid artist, craftsman, and gardener. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, and he was a state champion pistol marksman. Eldon and Sharon were inseparable and loved spending time together gardening and working in the yard.
Eldon and Sharon had 11 children, 47 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Sharon, brother Blaine Willes, sister Jeanette Miller and 11 Children. Steven Willes (Carol), Teresa Willie, Jeff Willes (Penny), David Willes (Renae), Sidney Willes (Wendy), Donald Willes (Susie), Douglas Willes (Paige), Richard Willes (Katrina), Jay Willes (Catherine), Sheriann Mills (Heath), Michael Willes (Vanessa).
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 29, 2021, at the Grove Creek 2nd Ward, 475 North 700 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah at 12:00 pm. There will be a viewing prior to service from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Interment in the Utah State Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale. Utah .
