Gail (Penovich) Ingram, 71, of Lindon, Utah, passed away serenely in her sleep on the morning of Thursday, September 23, 2021 at her home.
Gail Penovich was born to Joseph Penovich and Mildred Allen of Tooele, Utah on Wednesday, April 5, 1950 as the third of three daughters. Her parents divorced shortly after her birth. Gail acquired two stepfathers in her youth who were disinterested in raising children. With a working mother and disinterested stepfathers, Gail learned to be self-sufficient with the help of her sisters. Even at a young age she knew the importance of the gospel and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found solace there.
Gail lived in American Fork, Springville, and finally in Provo as a youth, where she attended Provo High School until graduating in 1968. While in high school she met the love of her life, David Ingram who attended Orem High School. They managed to spend as much time together as possible. Gail was a member of the Provo High Pep Squad and attended all sport games.
After graduating high school, Gail attended and graduated from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. With her degree she earned a job as a secretary at an insurance agency in Salt Lake City. Her mother was adamant that Gail finish school before being married. During this time, David and Gail went to great lengths to still spend time together while Gail was working in Salt Lake City and David studying at BYU. To secure his future wife, David proposed to Gail in 1968 but the marriage didn't take place until May 29, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple, shortly after her 19th birthday. The couple lived in Salt Lake City where Gail worked and David found employment at an auto dealership.
Their life together as a family began a year later with the birth of their first born daughter, Angie. They relocated to Orem so David could finish his degree at BYU while Gail spent her time being a mother and a homemaker. In the following years, the couple were blessed with four more children, Jenny, Scott, Emily, and Melissa.
David was employed at Merrill Lynch shortly after graduating from BYU. The family settled in Provo, then in later years relocated to Lindon.
Gail was a lifelong member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the gospel and had an unwavering testimony of its truth, of her Father in Heaven, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. At the young age of 20, Gail was called to serve as a counselor in the Primary presidency. Her faithful service led to many other callings throughout her life including Relief Society President, Sunday School teacher, Humanitarian Specialist, and other callings in Primary and Relief Society. Her favorite calling was Homemaking Counselor.
Gail was deeply devoted to her family. She strived to be the best mother and homemaker she could be, and loved and cared for them wholeheartedly. She was truly charitable and did not hesitate to share her talents and blessings with others. She had a spirit of service and prefered to help others in discrete ways. She exerted herself to serve her family, friends, neighbors and anyone in need.
Gail was a gifted homemaker in every aspect. Her quilting is legendary. She gifted most of her quilts to her loved ones and they are cherished by all. Her expertise also included cooking, sewing, crafting, memory keeping, and home decorating. She had a gift for all things domestic. Much of her efforts were used for humanitarian purposes.
Gail is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas David Ingram, her children Angie (Michael) Randall, Jennifer (John) Luke, Scott Ingram, Emily (Frank) Long, Melissa Rankin, her sixteen grandchildren, and three great-grandsons that she adores. She also leaves behind her sister JoAnn (John) Bone, nieces, nephews, cousins, and will be reunited with her sister Connie Brimhall (deceased), her mother, and many generations of family.
