Obituary

Gary Morgan McNeil Gary Morgan McNeil, 88, of Orem, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2021. Gary was born on August 5, 1933, in Benson, Arizona, to Morgan and Margie Murray McNeil. He and his older brother, Leon, shared many adventures during their younger years in Pomerene and Benson Arizona. As a teenager, his family moved to Orem, Utah where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 where he was athletically involved with Football and Track and Field. He met the love of his life, Vivian Davies and they were Married in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity on May 27, 1953. Creating a life of love together, they had three children. Alan Gary (Kris) McNeil, Sharon (Don) Shaw and David Elwood McNeil. They have 15 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Gary was a hard worker and was employed at Bunker's Feed Mill for a time. Not being one to "punch-in" every day, he developed his own Concrete Business which allowed his two sons the opportunity to work alongside him and expand their own skills. He was well known for his work ethic. Through his business, he employed many strong, young workers. Several of his grandsons were able to join him in the business as they grew into young men. They hold fond memories of those days and the abilities they each learned still help provide for them today. Gary was talented and creative. When he wasn't hard at work, he took some time to craft miniature saddles out of leather with authentic detail. He loved to hike, hunt and fish. He loved animals. To honor and remember those he hunted, he learned to do Taxidermy. Gary was a real true cowboy. He enjoyed going out west to catch wild horses and bring them home to break them. He was a horse whisperer. The horses he broke were loved and rode often by his children. Whether in the Mountains or Desert, he found a hobby at every turn. He worked hard but found time for fun with his family going camping every chance they got. Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was active in many callings. He was always ready to serve others with his gifts and talents. He enjoyed being a High Priest Group leader. His favorite position in his later years was, "Door Greeter". He would give the little one's high fives and welcomed everyone through the door with a sincere handshake and hello. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom McNeil, sister-in-law, JennieLee McNeil and 2 brother-in-law's, Kim Burmingham and Glen Karns. He is survived by Vivian, his wife who has been close by his side and the last two years has been his most devoted caretaker. He is also survived by his siblings, Leon McNeil, Mavis Burmingham, Carolyn McNeil, Jim (Nancy) McNeil, Marva (Ron) Box, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed here on earth. Our family is deeply grateful for Dr. Von Welch and the caregivers in his clinic for their loving guidance and support during our father's illness. Funeral services, under the direction of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021.
