April 5, 1941 - September 24, 2017 Our generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gordon "Butch" Leroy Anderson passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 76. He was born in Gig Harbor, Washington to Andy Edwin Anderson and Francis Olive Colley. He was the fifth of six children. While serving in the Army at Dugway Proving Ground, he met his beloved, Janice Sorenson. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple, and celebrated 51 years together. Gordon graduated from Utah State University, and soon started his 40-year career with the US Forest Service. He was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when he was 24 years old and was devout in his religion, faithfully serving in many capacities throughout the rest of his life. He especially loved working in the Boy Scout program. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and played a very good game of ping pong. Gordon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice, and children, Michelle (Harlan) Hawks, Nicholas Becker (son-in-law), Stephen (Rose), Brett (Amy), Jacob (Audra), Carolyn (Christian) Spencer, Natalie, and Mark (BriAnna). Also 25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Dianna (Nicholas) Becker, his parents, and his siblings. The viewing will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. There will be an additional viewing Tuesday, October 3, 2017 beginning at 9:30am at the Orchard 5th Ward chapel, 1120 East 600 North, Orem, Utah, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
