IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ian Andrew
Okolowitz
September 15, 2003 – December 2, 2025
Ian Andrew "Yan" Okolowitz passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 22.
Born on September 15, 2003, to Carlo and Tina Okolowitz, Ian arrived a month early yet amazed everyone with his strength and health. He was eager to explore the world from the very beginning, taking his first steps at just nine months old and on the go ever since.
Ian attended Northridge Elementary, Lincoln Preparatory Academy, and Karl G. Maeser Preparatory Academy. He was studying Criminal Justice at Utah Valley University, where his love of learning continued to shine. A gifted linguist, he became fluent in both Vietnamese and German out of admiration for the cultures and his heritage. He also had a deep appreciation for the sciences. Forever curious, he always sought after and absorbed new knowledge.
Throughout his childhood, Ian played baseball and basketball, and competed in wrestling and cross country. He was profoundly musical, learning violin, guitar, accordion, and singing in a Vietnamese Catholic choir. A naturally gifted chef, he poured his heart and creativity into every dish, enriching the lives of all who had the joy of sharing a meal with him.
Ian worked as an orderly at the Utah State Development Center. Then as a chef at Cirque Lodge before moving on to manage the kitchen at Harmon's. Though his time there was brief, he left an outsized impact, something Ian had a way of doing wherever he went.
Ian had a big heart. Always willing to share with others. Seeing the best in everyone. He was the light in the room, lifting everyone's spirit with his bright smile, charming personality and positive conversation.
He is survived by his parents, Carlo and Tina; his siblings, Alexandria, Ethan, and Owen; and his beloved partner, Anjali Jarman.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 1405 N. Main Street in Orem, Utah. The visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., with memorial services following at noon.
