Ivelisse Colón Grover, age 68, passed away at her home on July 22, 2021 of Early Onset Alzheimer's disease.
Ivelisse was born on January 8, 1953 in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico to Felipe Colon-Vea and Francisca Morales Rivera. She was raised in Villa Prades, Rio Piedras having two close friends, Nilda Eida Matos and Elizabeth Rodriguez. She studied Spanish literature at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, and Brigham Young University eventually earning a Master's degree in Spanish and Latin American literature. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Puerto Rico in 1975 and moved to Provo, Utah in 1977. She married Malaquias Flores in 1978, later divorced. They settled in Provo but lived in Mexico, Ecuador, and East Lansing, Michigan raising two children, Marcos and Mariel. She married Mark L. Grover in 2002 and in nineteen years of marriage they worked and traveled throughout the United States and the world, visiting five different continents. A highlight of her life was to serve with her husband on a church mission to Campinas, Brazil in 2016-2017.
She is survived by her husband Mark, two sisters: Daisy Jimenez, Provo, Utah and Madeline (Rey) Colón, Carolina, San Juan, Puerto Rico, two children: Marcos (Hilda), Los Angeles, California and Mariel (Matt) Buffington, Provo, Utah, two step-children: Anthony (Heather) Grover, Bountiful, Utah and Sylvia (Kurt) Updegraff, Gainesville, Virginia, and eight grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Parkway Health Center, the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic, University of Utah, and the staff of Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for their excellent help during the time of her illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., at the Park Fourth Ward Chapel 50 South 750 West Orem, Utah 84058. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Orem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to a favorite charity.
