IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacquelin
Olson
February 12, 1941 – July 26, 2024
Jacquelin (Crawford, Tremayne, Stevensen) Olson of Orem, Utah died Friday, July 26, 2024, in Orem at the age of 83. She was born February 12, 1941, in American Fork, Utah to parents George and Helen Crawford. She attended American Fork High School. In high school she lettered in band playing the clarinet. She graduated in May, 1959. Jackie went on to study Elementary Education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While attending BYU she met Glenn Tremayne and they were married June 28, 1962 in Salt Lake City at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple. Glenn and Jackie had six children, Dwain, Glenda, Alan, Bruce, Gary and Jeff.
Jackie returned to school to finish her college degree studying nursing at the University of Utah graduating in June, 1986. She returned to school as a single mother and overcame the immense challenge of raising six children while studying nursing at a campus 45 miles from her home. She had a rewarding career as an RN including working 19 years at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah.
Jackie married Paul Stevensen, a retired IRS agent, in September, 1987 in Salt Lake City. She continued her career in nursing while raising her children. She was devoted to her faith and served in many church positions. One of her favorite assignments that she fulfilled for years was that of ward librarian where she excelled at organizing documents and study materials.
She brought to her own household the determination and hard work she learned growing up on the family farm. She could often be found tending her garden and fruit trees that occupied nearly the entire backyard of her Orem home. The basement of that home was filled with homemade goods from the garden that she had bottled in mason jars packed neatly on shelves. Her kid's favorite was the apricot fruit leather she would make each summer.
Her son, Alan, passed away after a battle with cancer in September, 1999. Jackie stepped up and came to the aid of her grandchildren, keeping her promise to Alan that she would look after his two young children that he was raising, Kenneth and Angela. She brought them into her home to care for them through the rest of their childhood.
Jackie moved to the Cove Point senior living center in Provo, Utah in 2016. It was there she met her sweetheart, Howard Olson. They were married at the Provo City Center Temple on October 21, 2017. Unfortunately their time together was short as Howard passed away in January of the following year. Jackie continued her lifelong work of gathering family history and genealogy until her last years. She will be missed by many and her legacy of kindness and generosity will endure long after her life's end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Crawford, her sister Lorna Izatt, her son Alan Tremayne, and her husband Howard Olson. She is survived by her children: Dwain (Dana) of Stafford, Virginia; Glenda Raab (Wade) of Orem, Utah; Bruce (Michelle) of Provo, Utah; Gary (Tiffany) of Riverton, Utah; Jeffrey (Mandi) of South Jordan, Utah. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as her sister Karen Cole of Midvale, Utah and brothers Kent Crawford of Payson, Utah and Steven Crawford of Pocatello, Idaho.
A viewing will be held between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on August 2, 2024 at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, Utah followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. After the funeral she will be interred at her final resting place at the Orem cemetery.
