Jay Butler passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017 in Provo, Utah. Jay was born in Payson, Utah in 1950 to Willard Butler and Allie Houston Butler. He grew up in Redwood City, California and there graduated from Sequoia High School. Jay served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1969-1971. He received a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 1976. While attending BYU, he met Marie Lee. They married in 1976 in Provo, Utah and had two cherished daughters. Jay spent much of his life working for the State of Utah, primarily in the Department of Workforce Services. He retired in 2006 and spent his retirement enjoying his free time. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Marie, his daughters, Amanda and Megan, and his brother, Claud. His family and friends will especially miss his humor. A graveside service will be held at the Provo Cemetery on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11:00am
