Jeanne Marie Grundvig Christiansen passed away January 6, 2022, at the age of 92. She was bom on March 28, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lance Cox Grundvig and Marie Astin Grundvig. She grew up in the Avenues of Salt Lake and graduated from West High School. She attended the University of Utah as an English major and joined the Alpha Phi fra ternity for women. A fraternity sister set her up on a blind date with a fellow student named Howard Christiansen. They fell in love and were married December 6, 1950. They moved to Orem, Utah in 1956, felt at home, and stayed to raise their family.
Jeanne was interested in everything and developed a wide variety of skills and talents. She was an excellent seamstress, loved reading, gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting, refinishing and reupholstering furniture, and doing family history research. She learned to oil paint later in life and created many beautiful paintings. She played a little golf with her husband and supported her children in all their activities, including typing a lot of research papers. Her favorite thing was being a wife and mother.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was a den mother when her boys were young and she still has some of her cub scouts tell her how much they enjoyed being in her den. She spent many years serving in Relief Society which she loved and where she made many friends.
She is dearly loved and will be missed by her daughter, Terry (Doug) Arthur; son, Stephen (Laura), (Isabel); son, Daniel (Corein); 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers John and Paul Grundvig.
A memorial service will be held in the Orchard Ward building located at 1120 E. 600 N. in Orem, on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home at 646 East 800 North on Friday, January 21, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and prior to the service Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
