Jesse Raymond Scott, 79, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Monday, December 16, 2019.
Jesse was born on July 30, 1940 in La Luz, New Mexico to George Ira and Mary Rice Scott. Jesse was a son of a farmer and lived an old western style life. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in the Class of 1958. After graduation he attended the U.S. Military Preparatory School in Fort Belvoir, Virginia and served ten years in the U.S. Air Force. During his service at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, he met Dorothy Leitner. They married on May 5, 1962 and celebrated 57 years of marriage.
After the service, Jesse and Dorothy raised their three children in Orem, Utah. Together they watched as the orchards around them turned into subdivisions. Jesse worked various jobs such as insulation, landscaper, pest control, and a truck driver. Jesse's primary hobby was working in his yard and fixing up his house. He could be found pouring concrete, climbing up a ladder to cut a tree, or putting in new kitchen cabinets. Jesse read the newspaper daily and engrossed himself in Louis L'Amour's western novels.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and three children: Sandra (Mark) Carroll of Orem, Susan Hooley of Orem, and David (Sabrina) of South Jordan; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Katherine "Neeley" Millar of Taylorsville, and Marilyn Morgan of Long Beach, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Martha Siegman and Barbara Taylor; and two brothers, J.D. Scott and Thomas Scott.
