Joan Pratt Hill, 80, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, in Springville, Utah. She leaves a legacy of love, devotion, and service.

Joan was born on April 26, 1944, in Artesia, California, the youngest of three children, to Victor Thomas Pratt and Leona Maxfield Pratt. After attending schools in Southern California, she transferred to Brigham Young University where she graduated with a degree in child development and elementary education.

There, she also met Charles Eugene Hill, whom she married in the Los Angeles California Temple on September 10, 1965. During their marriage, they raised six children, two born in Utah; two, in Hawaii; and two, in Bolivia. Whatever the address, family was her world. She nurtured with love, taught with conviction, and cheered with enthusiasm.

Joan was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served others in many callings and assignments, including ward Relief Society president, full-time service missionary in Lima, Peru, and mission leader and companion to her husband in Laie, Hawaii, La Paz, Bolivia, and Madrid, Spain. She lived, loved, and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Mary Joyce Hyatt and Robert Thomas Pratt; and her beloved daughter Jennifer Leona Bess. She is survived by her husband Gene; her children Stephen (Camille), Thomas (Robin), Brian (Kathy), Scott (Becky), and Kevin (Kambrey); son-in-law John Bess (Corinne); 28 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchilden.

Family and friends may visit Friday evening, January 31, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at the Walker-Sanderson Funeral Home, 85 East 300 South, Provo, Utah. Another visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 9:30 – 10:30 am, at the Spring Creek 8th Ward meetinghouse, 235 East 550 North, Springville, Utah. Funeral services will follow that day at 11:00 am in the same location. Interment will be at the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
