Joan Watson, 86, passed away on June 11, 2026, receiving a joyful reunion with loved ones who preceded her in death. She was born on June 1, 1940, the eldest child of Shepard Hal and Lucy Haycock. She was a beloved sister and friend to her siblings, Roland, Paul, and Carole.

Joan married Johnny W. Butt in Pleasant Grove, Utah on July 23, 1958. They were later sealed as eternal companions in the Salt Lake Temple on September 30, 1959. Together they have two beautiful children, Layne and Lisa, in whom they are forever proud, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A precious daughter of God, Joan, had a love for people and for travel. She loved being surrounded by her family and cherished her time with them. Her most important roles were that of wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. When traveling was restricted later in her life, she loved hearing from her family and receiving updates on their lives. Her presence will be missed but not forgotten. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held by her family in late July.
