Joanna Brinckloe Neyman, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025. A first child, she was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on June 2, 1941, to her devoted parents and was raised in a loving home alongside her four younger siblings Olivia, Billy, Julie, and Bobby.

Due to her father's career in the U.S. Navy, the family moved every 18 months, living in numerous places across the country and abroad. Joanna's adventurous childhood included homes in Massachusetts, South Carolina, Missouri, California, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Rhode Island, and the Philippine Islands. By the time of her passing, she had lived in 41 different locations.

Joanna graduated from high school and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in History and minored in Music Theory. She then served as a Naval officer for two years, working in personnel before being assigned to a three-person recruitment team, traveling to Northeastern colleges to recruit for the Navy.

Joanna loved the arts and devoted much time to developing this talent. She took several art courses at American University, Golden West College, and eventually the Academy of Fine Arts in New York City under the guidance of Leon Kroll. Her excellent work earned her a place in Who's Who Among Vocational & Students in America. She spent many years in her free time creating beautiful colored pencil and oil portraits of her family and friends.

In her personal life, Joanna met and married George P. Neyman, a Naval engineer like her father. Together, they raised four children: David, Elizabeth, Geoffrey, and Michael. She was a creative, devoted, and fun-loving mother, creating beautiful experiences for her family and cherishing every moment spent together.

Joanna's spiritual journey led her to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she developed a deep love for Jesus Christ and his teachings. She served in various capacities, including teaching seminary, serving a two-year Family History mission in Salt Lake City, UT, working as a guide in the Tabernacle on Temple Square, and fulfilling many church callings including playing the piano and organ.

She was also passionate about Family History and Temple service, dedicating seven years as a volunteer Temple Ordinance worker at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and 14 years at her local Family History Center, helping others discover their family roots and write their own histories.

Joanna's commitment to a healthy lifestyle was evident throughout her life. She was a successful organic gardener and a disciplined advocate for healthy diet and lifestyle. For many years, she hosted a health interest group in her home, where she taught classes on organic vegetable gardening and emergency preparedness.

Joanna lived independently until 2022, when she moved into an assisted care center in Eagle, ID. There, she was dearly loved by those around her, known for her kind hospitality, friendship, and her determination to walk "marathons" every day.

Joanna (84) is survived by her 2 sisters Olivia and Julie: 4 children David, Elizabeth, Geoffrey, and Michael; her 22 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be terribly missed.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday, March 24th. It will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 420 East 13540 South (Stokes Ave), Draper, UT. She will be buried in the Orem City Cemetery through Walker Sanderson Funeral Home.
