IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Paul
Mulder
December 8, 1930 – December 15, 2025
John Paul Mulder (December 8, 1930 – December 15, 2025) passed away peacefully in Provo, Utah at the age of 95.
John was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second child of John Jella Mulder and Johanna Margaretha Slotboom, who had recently immigrated from Holland to pursue the American dream and be sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
When John was still young, the family moved to Oregon, eventually settling in Milwaukie, where they built a rhododendron nursery that remains in existence today. John learned responsibility early. After his father passed away when John was 14, he and his brothers helped keep the nursery going while he also cared for his mother. He grew up with "good rules and healthy hard work," and carried those values for the rest of his life.
John attended the University of Oregon, earning a bachelor's degree in business in 1958, the first in his family to graduate from college, and later graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law. He passed the Oregon bar in 1960. He worked nights stocking shelves at Albertsons to support himself and his family while attending school.
John practiced law in Eugene, Oregon as a partner at Mulder, Morrow & McRae, and also served Lane County as a judge as needed. Later, his career took him to Arizona and California, where he worked in real estate, title, business consulting, and banking, including helping establish Corner Stone Bank.
John was an athlete who loved golf, tennis, racquetball, handball, biking, and daily exercise. He also loved building homes with his wife, Nancy Jill Skeen Mulder, and was a devoted genealogist who filled dozens of binders with meticulously researched family history and temple work. Above all, John loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including his favorite calling as a Sunday School teacher.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jake and Jerry; his beloved wife, Nancy Jill Skeen Mulder, who passed earlier this year; and his daughter-in-law, Tricia Mulder. He is survived by his children and bonus children: John, Suzanne, James, Jordan, Michael, Catherine, and Anthony, and by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family who were enriched by his presence and example.
Funeral services will be held December 29, 2025, 10:00 am, at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East, 800 North, Orem, Utah.
Interment will be in West Weber Cemetery,
