Joseph Steven Louis Salazar passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 in Provo, Utah.  Joe was born in Colorado Springs on May 18, 1976 to James Edward Salazar and Joy Brenda Ford Salazar.  Joe was the second of three sons born to Jim and Joy; he was the soft spot in the middle of three growing, rowdy boys. Joe graduated from Provo High School, where he is remembered as one of the best wrestlers there ever was.  Joe won many matches and always placed well in region and state tournaments.  Joe loved hiking Rock Canyon; many friends spent quality time there with him.  Joe made the best grilled cheese sandwiches, loved beef jerky, picked out the best birthday cards, loved Bob Marley, and was quite a goofball. Joe loved his son Coby beyond measures.  Being a young dad was challenging, but Joe and Coby figured things out along the way.  In June they traveled to Colorado and had the trip of a lifetime rafting rivers and visiting family.  Joe rode on the world's highest zip-line over the Royal Gorge and his experience on the sky coaster is now a favorite family memory.  Joe and Coby had a lot of fun together snowboarding, skateboarding, cooking five course meals at home, and hanging out. The Salazar brothers were always wrestling, being rough and driving each other crazy one minute, and then hugging it out the next, truly best friends.  Everyone agrees Joe was the nice one. Joe is survived by his son "Coby Joe" Coby Josiah Salazar, his mother Joy, and his father Jim (Karen) Salazar.  Three bros, Jimmy (Alyssa), Jess, and Joshua.  Nieces Layla Vi, and Tessa, his Nephew Coy, and Aunt Teresa.  Many Tias, Tios, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends blessed Joe's life greatly. Joe is preceded in death by his Stepmother Marie Day, Grandparents: Fred and Maria Salazar, and Viola and James Ford; and friend Steve McAffee. Joe will be remembered for his gentleness, his accepting nature, his willingness to give you the coat off his back and his last ten bucks. Joe was honored in a private family ceremony on Monday, September 23, 2019. Joe always asked Coby if he had love in his heart, and we think that would be the best way to honor Joe, to always have and keep love in your heart....Peace.
