IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Eva
Jorgensen
May 14, 1946 – December 19, 2023
On May 14,1946 Joyce was born to Mary Jane Dunsdon and John Vernal Wright at their home in Orem, Utah. She was raised in that home surrounded by love with her siblings Glen, Carol, and Dale.
Joyce loved to play basketball and softball as a young girl and was a member of the Pleasant Grove High School Pep Club. She graduated as a Viking in 1964 and attended college at Brigham Young University beginning that fall.
It was while attending BYU that she reconnected with a former Pleasant Grove High School classmate, Wayne Jorgensen. They began dating and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1965. They celebrated their honeymoon at Yellowstone National Park – a place they would visit often from that point forward. Three beautiful daughters joined their family over the years – Janae, Gina, and Jami. Wayne and Joyce celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary just a few months ago.
As their family grew up, Joyce and Wayne shared their love of camping and being in the mountains with their daughters. Joyce and each of the girls had their own motorcycles and all rode well in the mountain adventures they enjoyed together. Their family has also enjoyed season tickets to BYU football games over the last 40+ years.
After all the girls reached high school and beyond, Joyce went to work part time at Alpine Credit Union as a part time hobby job that she loved. She enjoyed that opportunity for decades and only retired recently due to health issues.
As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in various callings in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women organizations over the years. She particularly loved serving with the Young Women and Joyce and Wayne enjoyed attending Girl's Camp every summer with them. She chose to serve in the temple regularly all throughout her life and was currently serving a voluntary service mission in the Provo Temple. Additionally, her neighbors were regularly the recipients of her kind, quiet acts of service throughout her neighborhood.
Joyce's great love in life was her family and she loved gathering with them often. She considered any day of the week ending with a "y" to be reason enough to get together for dinner, a game night, or a 'girls night out' with her daughters and grand-daughters. She loved gathering and was willing to be part of anything anytime!
As 7 grandchildren came into their lives, Joyce and Wayne filled their calendar with attendance at events the kids participated in. Across the years they have been their grandchildren's (and now 6 great grandchildren's) greatest supporters and cheerleaders by attending piano recitals, volleyball and softball games, gymnastic competitions, tennis and cheerleading events, wrestling matches and football games, baseball games, basketball games, soccer games, and live theater plays. She loved them all and supported them always and they have all been so blessed and lucky to have grown up loved, mentored, and supported by her and Grandpa Wayne.
Joyce left this life unexpectedly and suddenly on December 19, 2023 at the age of 77 after a severe stroke. She loved her family deeply and engaged in all their lives and will be greatly missed at all our family gatherings until we are reunited.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Vernal Wright and Mary Jane Dunsdon Wright. She is survived by her husband Wayne Mark Jorgensen and children Janae (Dave) Oveson, Gina (Sidney) Clements, and Jami Jorgensen. She is also survived by all her siblings Glen (Suzan) Wright, Carol (Stanley) Parry, and Dale (Toni) Wright as well as all her grandchildren and great grandchildren as follows: Alexandria (Jordan) Mackey, Natalia (Isaac) Johnson, Gentri (Michael) Hortman and Aria, Ezra and Zayn, Cassidee (Colton) Garrison and Oaklee, Kinsley, and Blakely, Jayden (Elise) Clements, Breyden Jorgensen, and Landon Clements.
