Obituary

Judith Charlotte Pavia, 81, of Saratoga Springs, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Highland Glen Memory Care Home in Highland, Utah. Judy was born on July 14, 1940 in Syracuse, New York to John and Marjorie Goodness Hayford. On May 13, 1961, she married Leonard Prosper Pavia in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was sealed in the Los Angeles, California temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 24, 1962.

Judy was a dedicated disciple of the Lord, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She served the Lord throughout her life in many church callings and supported her husband in all his efforts. She forwent work outside the home to be a mother to, and raise, her five children. She maintained her maternal care to the succeeding generations of children-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She practiced Christ-like love to all her friends, neighbors, and those she came in contact with, whether caring for the elderly, sponsoring a party for the lonely, providing a meal for the sick, or just lending a listening ear to the distraught. She accomplished her family history and temple work for many of her ancestors, and indexed over 10,000 names. In her later years, she enjoyed working as a dental assistant.

In her spare time, she read books from Deseret Book, sang in the choir, collected small statuaries and birdhouses. With her beloved companion, she faithfully served two missions for the Church, including 18 months at BYU-Hawaii. She loved laughter, dancing, and listening to music. Finally, her morning wouldn't be complete without the daily crossword puzzle.

Judy is survived by her husband, four sons, and one daughter: Leonard P. Pavia, Sr. of Saratoga Springs, UT; Kenneth S. Pavia of Sandy, UT; Leonard P. Pavia, Jr., of Greer, SC; Karrie S. Wurtzbacher of Bloomington, IL; Curt M. Pavia of Bellingham, WA; Christopher E. Pavia of Saratoga Springs, UT. She is also survived by four brothers: Thomas Auffhammer of St. George, UT; Edmund H. Auffhammer, Jr. of St. George, UT; Karrl Auffhammer of Salt Lake City, UT; and Norman J. Auffhammer of Columbia, TN; along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Alan Hayford.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00am in the Saratoga Springs Stake Center at 587 S. Saratoga Road, Saratoga Springs, Utah, 84045. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
