Obituary

Julia Jane Payne Brereton was born July 27, 1944 to Jesse and Metella Payne.  The only girl of 7 children. She passed September 19, 2019 surrounded by her family after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.  Julia grew up in Provo. She married Heber Eugene Brereton May 5, 1960. Together they had 7 children.  Julia was a stay at home mom for 30 years. She volunteered as a room mother for her children's classes. She served in many callings including Relief Society President. She was a Pink Lady for many years at Utah Valley Hospital. After Gene and Julia divorced, she worked for Head Start Preschool and Utah Valley Hospital.  Julia's whole world was her family, which has grown to 95 members including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When Julia was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she made a last wish to go to Disneyland. Her wish was fulfilled just a week before she passed.  Mom loved to collect, she loved her dolls and her Disney collectibles as well as bears. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her dad passed on when she was just 12 years old.  Her Brother Ronald and her sister in law Karma as well as a granddaughter Jeralynn and great granddaughter Kinsley.  We know they among others were awaiting her arrival for the celebration of her return home.  She is survived by her children; Jane (Lee) Netcher, Jeannie (David) Drake, Jim (Lisa) Brereton, Jerry (Joylyn) Brereton, Jessica (Greg) Cook, Jackie (Tobias) Peterson, Jen (Shane) Chase.  Her brothers Bob Nelson, Gordon Nelson, Ralph (Renee) Payne, Bill (Robyn) Payne, John Payne.  She is loved by 55 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews. Our mom loved everyone.  She had a special quality about her in always going the extra mile to let you know that you are loved. She would do anything for those she came across in life.  Julia loved her family, they were her pride and joy. It didn't matter what we were doing as long as we were together.  She loved camping and campfires as well as scrapbooking and traveling with her family. She had many close friends throughout her life, but Linda Carter will always be her best friend. Thank you, Linda, for loving our mom so much.  We would like to thank the staff at Cove Point Assisted Living for the loving care they gave our mom while she resided there.  A viewing will be held Friday September 27, 2019, 6-8 at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem.
