IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julie Anne
Sorensen
July 11, 1951 – December 20, 2022
Julie Anne Wirth Sorensen (Julie, Jules) passed away Wednesday, December 28th at her home in Orem. She was born in Baker, Oregon on July 11th, 1951, daughter of Arlene and Lewis Wirth. She was the oldest and only girl among her siblings Scott, Blaine, and Jeff. Her childhood was well spent on a ranch in Medical Springs, which she would remember as the most amazing playground. When she was almost 10, her family moved from Oregon to Utah, where her dad Lewis would start the ranch equipment business in Provo. In Utah, the Wirth family got established in South Orem, where she attended Westmore Elementary, Lincoln Jr High, and Orem High School. On Sundays, her family would attend to the St. Marks Lutheran church, faith that she was raised on. Her family and High School friends were her whole world until she met and got married to Gerald (Jerry) Sorensen, in 1974.
Most of her adult life was spent raising Ryan, Rory, and her daughter Ashely - who was born with brain damage and cerebral palsy. Life was complicated for them, navigating the unique circumstances of having a family member with disabilities. Together, they found their way to have the best life possible and their home became the place to gather for 'her boys' friends because of the love and understanding Julie and Jerry showed to all. The care she gave to her family took a toll on her body and mind. After struggling with depression and mental illness for the last many years she once again found the light within her and let her light shine again until her last breath.
Anyone who has met Julie knows the light she shined on this life. She has demonstrated love, acceptance, and kindness to everyone. She would constantly reach out to family and friends to make sure they knew how much she loved them. She had a fantastic sense of humor, and loved music, reading, painting, and crafting.
Julie is survived by her husband Jerry, her brothers Blaine (Laura) and Jeff (Debbie), her boys Ryan (Amanda) and Rory (Juliana), her daughter Ashley and stepdaughter Hillary (Jen), her grandchildren Taylor (Pedro), Saige, Sydney and Ryder, her great-grandson Luca, her dog Baxter, and many family members and amazing friends that she loved deeply through her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Arlene, and brother Scott.
Julie requested to be cremated.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 11:00 am at Centerpoint Church, 1550 Sandhill Road Orem, UT. Lunch will be provided.
