Obituary

With great and heavy hearts, we regret to say that Kameron "Kam" Wayne Bascom unexpectedly took his own life on the morning of Thursday, June 1, 2023. Kameron was a rock for everyone who knew him and lived a life of loving service. After multiple strokes over the last three years, Kam felt as if he was living on borrowed time. Unfortunately, Kam struggled with a life-long pursuit of perfection that ultimately became unbearable.

Kam was born on January 22, 1985 in Orem, Utah to Kevin and Kathy Bascom. Raised in Orem, Kam was an old, but goofy soul, with a particular knack and love for fixing things. As a youth, Kam was constantly surrounded by family and friends who he both tortured with love, and served with kindness. Kam eventually attended Orem High School where he met Miriam Bringhurst on the first day of 10th grade. It was love at first sight, and the two were virtually inseparable from that moment on. Kameron graduated high school in the summer of 2003, and promptly began preparing to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro North mission.

After returning from his mission, before he could stand to take off his suit, he ran to visit the love of his life. Kam and Miriam were married on August 12, 2006 and have scarcely left each other's side since, with the exception of Kam's yearly hunting trips with his family. They wasted little time before starting their family, bringing three beautiful children into the world, Korbin Wayne, Brody Kameron, and Kapri Maliah. Kam lived his life for his children and took his responsibility as a father to teach, instruct, and mold, fiercely yet lovingly.

Kam considered himself a hick at heart and never thought of himself as the smartest man in the room. Knowing this, Kam prided himself in his ability to outwork everyone around him with a figure it out attitude. Kameron worked so hard he earned the respect of everyone he worked for. Shortly after getting married, Kam began his career as a forklift driver for a local lumber supply company, but quickly moved up to become the Superintendent of Finish Work. As he worked, he grew his vast knowledge and was a true master with his hands. Eight years ago, Kameron went to work at a Fintech company named, MX, and loved showing what he was capable of, even when he was against all odds. Despite being challenged daily, Kameron rose to each occasion and quickly became the Head of Facilities. Kam was proud to call himself a self-made man.

Kam was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life, and to everyone who knew him, was the embodiment of Christ-like service. Kameron would often find out a neighbor or family member was in need and drop everything he was doing to spend full days helping others. When not helping others or working around the home, Kam spent as much time as he could with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, his orange Ford Maverick, and literally anything that would allow him to get outdoors.

Kam will be wildly missed by his children, Korbin, Brody, and Kapri; wife, Miriam's parents, Kent and Margaret Bringhurst, Kam's parents Kevin and Kathy Bascom; siblings, Devin (Kirsten), Tiffany (Jamison), Ryan (Alli), and Brittany (Zach); and the 11 Bringhurst siblings and spouses, nieces, nephews, co-workers, extended family, and friends.

Friends and family may give condolences on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 6-8pm as well as Friday, June 9, 2023, from 10:30-11:30am. In honor and remembrance of Kam, a funeral proceeding will be held June 9, 2023, beginning at 12pm. Both services will be held at the Church Meetinghouse located at 545 South 800 East, Orem, UT 84057. Interment will be held at the Orem City Cemetery.
