IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karol Shipp
Gleave
May 22, 1933 – February 1, 2024
Karol Shipp Gleave, 90, beloved mother, friend, tennis ace, lunch goer, shopper, seamstress, diet coke lover, and traveler has passed from this life on February 1, 2024 in Provo, Utah.
Born at home, May 22, 1933 in Joseph, UT she was the fourth of five children born to Charles Edward and Mabel Eugenia French Shipp. She attended South Sevier High School in the class of 1951, was popular, stylish and on the drill team. She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Tora Gleave who passed away in 2004 after 52 years of marriage.
Karol, always looking younger than her age, kept herself fashionable and well dressed, mostly from the work of her own hands. She sewed daily for her kids, herself, even for others (velour jogging suits, quillos, dresses, blankets) with soap operas in the background. Through her sewing gift, Christmas was magical with new PJ's, matching doll clothes, new dresses and outfits.
Karol was a hard worker, up early to get everything done for her large family and help support Stan's ideas, with countless moves, turkey farms, summer camps, nursery schools, the gift shop at Frontier Village and the Fish Lake cabin.
Karol loved to read, shop, decorate but in later years her true love was tennis, where she made life long friends that have been so faithful to the end. Her senior team took her to Orlando and Palm Springs winning tournaments. Karol played into her 80's. She felt no problem, or illness couldn't be cured by a good game of tennis.
Karol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was sealed to Stan in the Manti Temple and together they laid a strong foundation of eternal family roots.
Survivors include her seven children: Barton T Gleave (Barb), Roxann Sorensen (Kory-deceased) S. Craig Gleave, Michael C. Gleave (Allison), Lana Nelson (Tab), Jodi Gleave (Troy) Rodney S. Gleave (Suzanne), 35 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren.
Viewing 10-11:30 am, funeral services to follow at 12 pm. Services to be held Monday, February 19th, at Suncrest 10th Ward building, 95 North 600 West Orem, UT 84057
Internment with be in the Joseph, Utah cemetery February 20th.
