Kelly Gene Smith, 51 of Orem passed away Wednesday September 6th, 2017 in Draper from a courageous battle of cancer surrounded by his family and dear friend Dean. Kelly was born on June 10th, 1966 in Provo to Father M. Duane Smith and mother Doris Darlene Smith. He grew up in Orem as the youngest of three siblings. Graduated from Orem High School class of '84. Kelly was an accomplished instrumental electrical engineer working for many years at Geneva Steel. Kelly loved adventures outdoors with his father, family and friend Dean that included camping, hunting and fishing trips to Alaska. He will be dearly missed by his loving sister Debbie (Milio) Mascaro, adoring nieces Jenny (Mitch) Hendricks, Julia (Christopher) Zdunich, April (Jordan) Wheat, little buddies Dalton, Madison, Hudson, Ava, Keaton, furry friend Duke and best friend Dean (Deanna) Pitts. Proceeded in death by his father and mother (Duane & Darlene Smith), brother (Kim) and grandmother (Mable Olsen). Special thanks to Intermountain Hospice Tammy & Brock.
