Obituary

Kenneth Vaughn Guymon Sr. (“Ken”)

Kenneth Vaughn Guymon Sr., affectionately known as Ken, passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday June 14, 2026.

Born on July 24, 1947, in Cortez, Colorado, Ken was the son of Willard Grant Guymon and Alice Lillian Grubb. He was raised in Mancos, Colorado until he was 6 and spent the rest of his life in Provo, Utah.

Ken served in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant in Battalion Supply. During his military career, he was stationed in Germany during Operation Desert Storm and spent time in Germany and Panama for training exercises and summer deployments. Following his military retirement, he worked for Sento as a software engineer and later Sears, where he genuinely enjoyed selling tools and talking with customers who shared his interests.

Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved building computers, fishing, gardening, collecting and talking about tools, pets, and spending time outdoors. One of his greatest joys was baking pies with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He was also a devoted supporter of his children and grandchildren, rarely missing a sporting event.

While life brought its share of challenges and growth, becoming a grandfather transformed Ken in profound ways. The arrival of his first granddaughter softened his heart and opened a new chapter in his life. His grandchildren became the center of his world and the light of his life. They knew him as a loving grandfather who delighted in spending time with them, sharing stories, teaching lessons, and telling the kind of terrible dad jokes that somehow never got old.

Those who knew Ken will remember his sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, his appreciation for a good tool, and the joy he found in being a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Vicki Hill Guymon, his children Cheyney Aric Guymon, Devon Brody Guymon and wife Dacia, Dustin Brett Guymon and Kenneth “Kenny” Vaughn Guymon Jr, grandchildren Haley Marie Guymon, London Beth Guymon and Jex Brody Guymon, and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his siblings Mary Edna Roberg, Marilyn Fauver, and Wesley “Sunny” Guymon, and his eldest son Brandon Scott Guymon.

Ken leaves behind a family who loved him and will miss him deeply. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave to his children and grandchildren will continue to live on in their hearts.
