Kent "B" Beus, 91 years old, died Friday, October 2, 2026, in Highland, Utah. Kent was born March 31, 1935, at Ogden, Utah, the son of William James and Leone Blood Beus.
The Beus family was engaged in farming at Clinton, Utah; Burley, Idaho; Nyssa, Oregon; Othello, Washington; Coral, Michigan; and Hyder, Arizona. Kent never lost his love of working with the soil, watching plants grow. He attended school at Burley, Idaho, and Nyssa, Oregon, graduating from Nyssa High School in 1953. He attended Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah, prior to serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway from 1955 to 1958. Returning to BYU, he completed both B.A. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering. He was elected a member of Tau Beta Pi and Beta Lambda Mu engineering honor societies.
Kent married Clara Goates in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, on August 28, 1959. They are the parents of six children, five daughters and a son.
Completing his schooling, Kent was employed by IBM. He worked as an electrical engineer for IBM (Los Gatos, California), Motorola Semiconductors (Mesa, Arizona), Fluor Corporation (Alaska), and Philips Semiconductors (Orem, Utah, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Nijmegen, Netherlands).
The love of missionary work, history of our country, and love of ancestors was instilled in Kent by his father when he was a young man. Living for a time in Europe afforded him the opportunity to become well acquainted with the homelands of his ancestors.
Kent found great joy in serving others in church, community, and family responsibilities. Church leadership callings includedbishop’s counselor, high priest group leader, Young Men's president, stake mission president, stake seventy, and genealogy and emergency preparedness leader. He served numerous stake missions and with his wife served for several years at the St. George Regional Family History Training Center. He served on the governing boards of the National Center for Constitutional Studies and the Central Utah Pioneer Heritage Association. He seemed happiest when involved in family gatherings and activities or engaged in missionary or family history work.
Kent is survived by his wife and children: Karen (Ronald) Turner, Diane (Scott) Santiago, Kristine (Patrick) Holderness, David Kent (Cindy) Beus, Michelle (Stanford) Swim, Colleen (John) Bell; 24 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. His parents, brothers Don Wesley and Spencer William, sister Sandra Burch and two grandchildren preceded him in death. He is also survived by his brother Gary Beus; sister Terry (Jerry) Conklin; and sister-in-law Sue Beus.
A time for family and friends to visit with Kent's family will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:00 am at Walker Sanderson Mortuary in Orem, Utah, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Kent will then be laid to rest at the Orem City Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held under the direction of Walker Sanderson Mortuary.
