It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenyon Carson Bunker, affectionately known as “K9,” who passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Born May 22, 1944, in American Fork, Utah, Kenyon was a man cut from the kind of cloth they don’t make much anymore—hardworking, steady, and never afraid of a long day’s work. He believed in taking care of his family, doing what needed to be done without fuss, and that a firm handshake was all the contract an honorable man needed.
Kenyon was the beloved son of Velda and Carlyle Bunker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Paul, Velyle, Carla, Maria, Edward, and Elise.
In 1963, Kenyon married the love of his life, Ardis Joy Sturman. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 6, 1964. Side by side, they built a life, raised a family, weathered the hard seasons, and enjoyed the good ones. After Joy’s passing, Kenyon carried her with him in his heart. Now, after years apart, they are together again.
Kenyon’s greatest legacy was his family. He is survived by his children: Michelle Hopkinson (Dana), Martin Shane Bunker (Tracy), Brandon Bunker (Annette), Casey Bunker, and Devon Bunker (Corrina). He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren.
Kenyon grew up in Orem, Utah, where he attended local schools and graduated from Orem High School. Even as a young man, he showed the drive and leadership that would define much of his life, serving as President of the Future Farmers of America.
Much of Kenyon’s early life was also spent at his family’s Bunker Feed Mill in Orem, where he grew up working and eventually helping run the business. It was a place he took great pride in and one that helped shape his lifelong respect for hard work, agriculture, and doing a job right.
The land and livestock were never far from Kenyon’s heart. He spent much of his life farming, raising cattle, poultry, and pigs, attending livestock auctions, and operating a dairy farm. He knew early mornings, long days, dirty boots, stubborn animals, broken equipment, and the satisfaction of putting his feet up at the end of the day.
Kenyon was also the proud owner of K9 Construction. Like everything else he took on, he built it through grit, persistence, and a willingness to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.
He was the kind of man who understood that a good life isn’t necessarily an easy one. It is built one day at a time—with work, sacrifice, laughter, family, and the courage to keep moving forward when the trail gets rough.
A visitation will be held on October 8, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem, Utah. A graveside service will immediately follow at Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East in Orem.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Belle Vie Home Health and Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Kenyon and his family.
A good man leaves more than memories. He leaves behind an example of how to live, and Kenyon did just that.
He will be remembered for his laughter, his wisdom, his strength, his kindness, and above all, the love he had for his family.
And somewhere beyond the horizon, we know Joy was waiting for him.
Until we meet again, K9.
