Kevin Doyle McCoy, 57, of Orem, passed away in the early morning of May 18, 2021, after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. Although we grieve his passing, which came sooner than expected, we remember Kevin as we hope he would want us to: as a loving husband and father, a proud girl-dad and funpa (fun grandpa), and a peaceable follower of Christ.

Kevin was a man of few words, but he expressed his love for others through constant service: mowing lawns, plowing snow on the neighborhood sidewalks, baking cinnamon roll wreaths for friends and neighbors at Christmas and bread nearly every other week of the year, and many other acts we will remember and miss him for. We will try to keep up Kevin's standard of care in the yard and for his many houseplants.

We remember Kevin's sense of humor from shared viewings of Monty Python and the six-hour A&E Pride and Prejudice, as well as in his response to any mention of the number 11 with the movie quote "our amps go to 11." He loved actor Cary Grant and was very proud of his ever-growing collection of Grant's movies.

Kevin never missed a ward choir practice if it was in his power to go, once even continuing his walk there after a fall on an icy sidewalk, then walking home - he later found out he had broken his leg. He also enjoyed daily bike rides and annual hikes of Mt. Timpanogos every August until his health prevented them.

A self-taught computer programmer and Apple fan, Kevin left his undergraduate studies at BYU to work for WordPerfect and followed the word processing program to Novell and Corel. Other jobs included Jostens Learning, Intel, and AccessData. He rode his motorcycle to work at AccessData whenever there wasn't snow on the ground.

Kevin was born September 19, 1963 in Provo, Utah to John Ray and Maurine (Jensen) McCoy. He served in the Portugal Lisbon Mission (1982-1984). After a marriage, two daughters, and a divorce, Kevin married his eternal sweetheart Dana Sue Thomson on January 27, 1996 in the San Diego Temple and had two more daughters with her.

He is survived by his wife, Dana; daughters Heather McCoy, Kaitlyn (Nicholas) Polansky, Megan (Jordan) Reitz, and Riley McCoy; granddaughter Alina Polansky; siblings Lynette McCoy, Diane McCoy, Mary Lynn (Bart) Schaerrer, John T. McCoy, and Karen (Brian) Clothier; four nieces, and one nephew.
