Obituary

Kevin Paul Smith returned to his Father in Heaven on 24 June 2026 in Orem, Utah. Kevin was born on the 24th of February 1949 in Tucson, AZ, to Brant and Fern Smith. After graduating high school, he attended college before enlisting in the US Navy in 1970. He served during the Vietnam War as a Fire Control Technician and separated from the Navy in 1974. Kevin continued his educational pursuits throughout the remainder of his life. He worked in a variety of fields, including working the mines in Colorado, quality assurance at Boeing, and other endeavors that allowed him to use his talents to their fullest. While working in the mines, Kevin met Marjorie, and they dated for seven months before getting married in the Arizona Mesa temple on March 21, 1981. After they were married, Kevin's career took them coast to coast and border to border. Along the way, Kevin became a father, a Scout master, a mentor and friend to many. Kevin loved to share his talents in wood carving, singing, gardening, and cooking Texas-style BBQ. Kevin held a deep and abiding love for his country and showed his patriotism through military service and membership in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and by care for those around him through frequent platelet donations at the Red Cross.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Brant and Fern Smith, and his sister, Sheryl Smith. Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; siblings Jenne Smith (sister) and Garth Smith (brother); his son Brant and stepchildren Julie Zelasko, James Jensen and Scott Jensen; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will include a viewing on 9 July 2026 at Walker-Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, Utah, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Memorial services will be held on 10 July 2026 at the LDS Chapel at 590 North 900 West, Orem, Utah. He will be laid to rest in the Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Utah, with military honors being provided by VFW 8376.
