Obituary

Kimball (Kim) Lane Bunker, 72, left this life on Saturday, March 31, 2018, due to liver failure. He was born February 21, 1946 in Maywood, California to Franklin Lane and Delpha Reddick Bunker. He spent his youth in Montebello, California, attending Montebello High School and East Los Angeles College. He graduated from BYU with a degree in Economics in 1968. He married Jeannie Griffith in May 1968 (later divorced). He married Dona Thompson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in April 1979. In 1990 he graduated from Westminster College with an MBA in Finance. Kim spent 43 years in banking, subsequently retiring from Central Bank in 2012 after 32 years. He devoted many hours to non-profit organizations by serving on the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Works in Provo, Housing Services of Utah Valley, and Family Literacy Centers and was recognized with the Provo Mayor's Award for Unity in March 2010. He received the Angel Award from Neighborhood Works – Provo for 20 years of volunteer service in August 2012. In his church callings, two stand out: He served six years on campus at BYU's 7 th Stake; and the time he spent in his home ward teaching Sunday School to the youth of the church. He enjoyed teaching of all kinds. His time at Utah Valley University as an adjunct instructor was fulfilling as was his time as a mentor for undergraduates and MBA students in the Marriott School of Business. He loved time spent with photography having shot thousands of frames looking for that elusive "money shot." He was a certified rifle and pistol instructor for the NRA as well as an NRA range safety officer, donating time at the Provo Parks and Recreation Range in Provo. He attended 13 annual training weeks with both federal and local law enforcement officers as well as various gun schools. Especially enjoyable were the times with his son, Jared, at schools in Texas and Oregon. The jewel of his life was the family: five children and thirteen grandchildren. He enjoyed being a part of their lives, sharing the challenges and successes.  Each is unique and inspiring allowing many poignant memories. This was crowned by a mate who exemplified honesty and devotion to both family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dona, five children, and thirteen grandchildren: Cheree (Joel) Rowley, Krysta (Jim) Hullinger, Jared (Jaclyn) Griffith, Sara Simkins, and Megan (Joseph) Haynie. Grandchildren: Renae (Richard), Mindy,  Adam, Amanda, David, Matthew, Kaeli, Ethan, Lauryn, Jacob, Michael, Cecily, and James. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
