Obituary

Kimiko Y. Sink passed away in the home of her son in Orem, Utah on February 6, 2022. She was born in Chiba, Japan, on August 5, 1927 and spent her childhood in Japan, stealing figs from the neighbor's tree and watching her grandfather tend bonsai. In her teens she moved with her mother and stepfather to China and eventually moved back to Japan toward the end of World War II. In October 1949 while working at Tachikawa air base she went on a double date with a friend and met Eldin Sink, a member of the U.S. Air Force. They married July 23, 1951 and moved to the U.S. later in the same year. Kimiko gave birth to her son, Ken, in California in 1956. Around 1959 the family moved to Scotland and lived there for several years, spending their time collecting antiques and navigating through deep fog to visit castle ruins. They returned to the United States and settled in Mountain Home, Idaho, where Kimiko lived until moving to live with Ken in late 2021. Kimiko will be remembered for her stubborn independence, sense of humor and love for her family. She also loved animals, especially dalmatians, and was a life-long fan of Michael Bolton. She was often found playing bingo with friends. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and survived by her son, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
