IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kristine Diane
Filler
March 13, 1966 – October 14, 2023
Kristine Diane Filler was born March 13th, 1966 to Gary and Karen Filler in Walnut Creek, CA. Kristy was hearing impaired since birth leading to a tenacity to overcome, a trait that persisted throughout her life. In life, she always stuck to her convictions. She was the second of four children in her family having one brother and two sisters. She spent her growing up years in several towns surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area including Concord, San Jose, Saratoga and Los Altos. Kristy enjoyed school and made several life-long friends. Friends have continued to be a central focus throughout her life.
She graduated from Leigh High School in San Jose in 1984. After graduating from high school, Kristy relocated to Orem, UT where she worked and attended classes at Utah Technical College at Provo. Kristy was blessed to live in many places during her adult life including: Silver Springs, MD, Renton, WA and various places in Utah County, UT.
Kristy has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since she was a child. She had a simple yet profound faith and was always trusting in her Savior and God's plan for her. While a teenager, Kristy was privileged to live in the Los Altos, CA 2nd ward where she met many kind and loving people who helped her feel included and helped her grow her testimony. In part, because of this, as a young adult, Kristy was able to serve an ASL mission. She served the hearing impaired members and converts in Chicago, St. Augustine, FL, and Fresno, CA. Her mission was a highlight of her life.
Kristy loved the temple and felt great happiness attending the temple and doing work for her ancestors. She was vital in helping her parents work on family history projects.
One of Kristy's greatest joys in life has been spending time with her nine nephews, three nieces, three grand-nieces, and one grand-nephew. She loved hugging them, talking to them and playing games with them. Kristine was in high spirits when she was winning a game! She especially loved Mille Bornes, Mastermind and Cover Your Assets.
Kristy loved holidays and special occasions, especially Christmas. She loved decorating her apartment in festive decorations, many of which she made herself. Along with this was Kristy's love of giving gifts. She loved to see others happy and spent much time and effort picking out or making gifts for her recipients. She truly spoiled her family and friends.
She was an avid BYU football and basketball fan and enjoyed following their weekly games.
Despite several health challenges, Kristy did not complain and she was always willing to help and serve her family and her ward. She would constantly ask how her nephews and nieces were doing. As one of her nephews said, she may not have been blessed with children in this life but she was always mothering. She constantly cared for and encouraged her family, loved them with all of her heart, and inspired her nephews to serve missions.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 610 West 300 South, Provo, UT on Monday, October 30th. A visitation with the family will be at 10-10:45 am followed by the celebration of life services at 11 am. Interment will be at the East Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Provo. Kristine is preceded in death by her mother, Karen Filler, and her grandparents. She is survived by her father, Gary B. Filler (Diane), her siblings: Debbie Sharp (Joe), Dan Filler (Toni), Tammy Shipley (Erik), her Aunt Barbara Shelton, Uncle Ted Filler (Rita) and her nine nephews, three nieces, three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.
