IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leeanne Sorensen
Stanley
February 3, 1958 – September 15, 2022
LeeAnne Sorensen Stanley, an elect daughter, made her way to her heavenly home peacefully Thursday, September 15th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was exemplary in each of those roles and had a great capacity to uplift and love a variety of people.
She fought a courageous battle with cancer and met each challenge with dignity and grace. We appreciate all who helped her along this difficult path.
LeeAnne was born on February 3rd, 1958 in Provo, UT to loving parents Jay Berten Sorensen and Carol Campbell Sorensen. She married her high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Jon Michael Stanley, on July 28th, 1978 in the Provo, Utah temple. She graduated from Orem High School and continued her education at LDS business college.
She dedicated her life to serving her community and assisting those in need. Having spent 44 years as the Operations and Finance Manager at Community Action, LeeAnne directly and indirectly helped tens of thousands of families and individuals. She also served on the board of Habitat for Humanity.
LeeAnne had a wonderful way of making people feel at ease and that they were wanted, needed, and appreciated. She opened her home as a refuge for anyone seeking solace. Her nature was charity, which we know is the pure love of Christ. She served faithfully in many different church callings, including twice as the Relief Society president, and helping with the youth as the Primary President and in the Young Women's presidency . She served so many, including her parents whom she cared for for many years.
Her family was her greatest source of fulfillment and joy. She was a great cook and made every family event a wonderful occasion. She loved being a mother and grandmother, and she excelled in those roles. She is so proud of each of her children and her grandchildren.
We love our sweet LeeAnne, our mother, our Mimi, our friend. We will miss her greatly. We find comfort in knowing she is being embraced by others who love her on the other side of the veil.
She was preceded by her parents, Jay B. and Carol Sorensen, as well as her brother, Michael Sorensen. She is survived by her husband, Jon Stanley, and children: Ashlee (Brig) Barker, Lindsay (Brandon) Rodman, Sean (Amberlea) Stanley, Nicole (Bryce) Driver, McKenzie (Jesse) Ward, Daryn (Haley) Stanley, and 18 grandchildren; brother, Brent (Debra) Sorensen; sister, Pauline Lape; and sister-in-law, Melanie Sorensen.
