Obituary

Leon Leslie Delaney born Feb 18, 1947, peacefully passed away July 14, 2023. He was 76 years old. Born in Houston, TX, his family moved to Cranbury, NJ before settling in Orem, Utah where he went to Orem High School and played basketball. Leon graduated high school and attended Utah State for a short time. He married his first wife Joan and she had his son Russ. He moved to New York, where he worked in construction and eventually, with his brother Sean being in the music industry, became a roadie for the band KISS. This helped launch the next chapter in his career. While in New York, he met the love of his life Melanie. They moved to Southern California and had two daughters Nicole and Amanda.

Working as a stuntman/stunt coordinator, he had an illustrious 35 year career including movies such as The Warriors, Home Alone 1 and 2, Cape Fear, Titanic, and Total Recall, and TV series such as Dukes of Hazard and A-Team. His career allowed him to travel the world and go to places that he might not have otherwise traveled to. He considered himself "The luckiest man on earth." After living in California for many years, his wife passed away and he moved to Las Vegas to retire. Leon traveled back to the East Coast for a few years, where he attended many industry conventions. He loved meeting his fans, telling stories, and signing autographs. Eventually, he returned to Las Vegas. He lived the rest of his years with his two cats, Stanley and Little One, who were his best pals. His son and daughter-in-law were his caretakers until he passed away. Leon was extremely proud and grateful for his family, friends and his stuntman career. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Pete Delaney, sister Dorre Nichols, brother Sean Delaney and wife Melanie Delaney. He is survived by son Russ Delaney (Anna), Daughters Nicole (John) Lincoln and Amanda (Shawn Cook) Delaney. Grand-children - Brendan, Zoe, Demi, Angelica (David) Steven (Chynna) Joseph, Austin and Curren. Great Grandchildren - Josie and Rubie. Niece & nephew Dede and John Nichols.
