IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Phyllis
Finch
September 14, 1941 – March 13, 2022
Linda Phyllis Behrman Finch, 80 years young, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her daughter's home in Eagle Mountain, Utah, while her husband of 55 years held her hand, with many of her children and grandchildren surrounding her.
Linda was born in Leadville, Colorado to Lynn and Mildred Behrman on September 14, 1941. From the minute she was born, Linda was the light of her parent's lives. She was the only girl, followed by three younger brothers, Don, Ben, and Ray, that she adored. She and her parents moved to Utah and shortly thereafter, they became a crucial part in building up members of the Jehovah Witness Congregation. They traveled the country in worship, and helped others find their faith.
Linda graduated Orem High School, winning awards in English, typing, and secretarial skills, glee club, volleyball, tennis. She had a lifelong love for learning.
She married David Lallas, and had two children, Michael, and Gay Lallas. They later divorced.
She met the love of her life following an incident involving an injured horse and barbed wire, with her brother Don introducing her to Doug Finch who knew all things equestrian to heal the horse. What they had not anticipated upon that meeting was that they were going to get the ride of their life for the next 55 years.
Doug and Linda had 5 more children- Brock (Joanna) Finch, Brandon Finch, Stephanie Puffer, Nicole Finch, and Heather (Brian) Marshall.
Linda worked as Executive Secretary for Geneva Steel, a US Steel company, with her amazing typing skills of 117 words per minute. She transcribed in shorthand and was able to keep up with any demands placed on her. Soon after retiring in her 40's from Geneva Steel, Linda accepted a position at Sportsman's Warehouse in Provo, where she spent her earnings on anything that could be used to instill a love for the outdoors.
When her oldest son, Mike decided to serve an LDS Mission, Linda asked him to baptize her as a member of the LDS church. Linda was able to go to Hong Kong and China to pick him up from this mission.
Linda was blessed with a large family, and she served them in every capacity. She loved to be a girl scout leader, pushing the girls to outsell more cookies than anyone else in the state! Three of her daughters were able to go on extravagant trips through those cookie sales. She was Stake Camp Director for young women for 5 years and found great happiness in the mountains. She never missed a football, baseball, track or wrestling event, and her boys would always seek her out in the bleachers.
Linda pestered Doug for years about wanting a cabin to have as "Finch's Base Camp." They purchased a cabin in Manila, Utah, and have held innumerable family reunions, weekend getaways, weeklong adventures, all with the sole purpose of offering their growing family the opportunity to make memories. River rafting, picnics at Sandy Beach, storytelling around the campfire, horseshoes, tomahawk, and Atlatl throwing competitions, etc.
Linda's laugh could be heard miles away, and she loved having her friends and family around her. Her sisters in law were her best friends, and everyone who she met knew that they had just made a friend for life. She loved birthdays the most, and she never missed leaving the best "Happy Birthday" voicemails for anyone and everyone she knew. She loved to crochet and made every one of her children, grandchildren, and friends a crocheted blanket to wrap up in.
Linda was welcoming to everyone she ever met, and she had a great listening ear. She loved watching Gunsmoke and QVC and eating ice cream.
Linda was most proud of her husband and her family. Because of the difficulties in life, it was important to her to encourage forgiveness, grace, extend your hand in service to others, and take pictures, hundreds of pictures on every occasion. Linda's exuberant laugh and sarcasm will be sorely missed.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Millie Behrman, and her brother Don.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband Doug Finch, her seven children; (Mike, Gay, Brock, Brandon, Stephanie, Nicole & Heather), twenty-seven grandchildren; (Aubrey, Adam, Amanda, Alex, Candace, Ashley, TJ, Carson, Jessica, Nathalia, Kwin, Madison, Alexis, Cassidy, Kaitlyn, Braquel, Easton, Addie, Jackson, Jasper, Erika, Colton, Alex, Bailey, Ashton, Blaize, Kazh, Cruze) and sixteen great grandchildren- Lily, Gabe, Eva, Grayson, Haley, Claire, Jude, Dominic, Jaxon, Rohan, Indie, Calvin, Cayson, Ivie, Haven, Avery, Hagen, Ryker, Liberty, and Russel. Siblings, in laws, AND out laws will never forget the way she made them feel.
Special thanks to the team at Suncrest Hospice, especially Charlene, Andrea, Teresa, Cheyenne, Deanne, and Dave, who brought new meaning to being a caregiver. She brought as much light into their lives as they did into hers.
