Linda Elise Jensen Gregson age 75 of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members and holding the hand of her sweetheart on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Provo, Utah due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Linda was born on February 13, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho to George Lundlie Jensen and Mary Elaine (Brower) Jensen. She was the oldest of four children and enjoyed sharing her birthday with both her father, George, and her younger brother, David. Her father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and consequently she grew up throughout the Pacific Northwest, ultimately graduating from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA in 1960. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Linda was a musically gifted child who excelled at piano, organ and string bass. She loved music and had many wonderful stories of playing the bass as the only girl in an all boys' dance band throughout high school. She earned a music scholarship to Brigham Young University where it was not uncommon to see her driving her VW Beetle with the neck of the string bass hanging out one of the windows. While there she was a member of the Y's Men Dance Band and the BYU Symphony. She met the love of her life, Hugh Gregson, in 1960 and wrote him while on his LDS mission to Sweden. Upon his return home they became engaged and were married in the LDS Cardston Alberta Temple on December 27, 1963. Linda was a proud mother to five children, including one son and four daughters. She raised her children in Idaho and Utah, and eventually settled in Bothell, WA. While her children were growing up she stayed home and served in various callings in the LDS church including the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. Perhaps her most beloved calling, besides mother to her own children, was that of serving as mother to 585 missionaries of the Utah Provo Mission from 1997-2000 while her husband served as Mission President. Linda loved life and learning and returned to school when her youngest child was in high school, ultimately graduating with her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington at the age of 50. While there she served as Student Body President of the UW Bothell campus. Linda was known throughout her life for her sense of humor, compassionate spirit and willingness to serve. She had the ability to make anyone feel at home. Countless lives were influenced by her sweet kindness. She devoured mystery novels and all kinds of chocolate. She enjoyed collecting recipes and put together several books for her friends and family. Her chocolate cake was famous and even won a blue ribbon at the Idaho State Fair. She loved practical jokes and was quick to laugh; to her friends she was known as "Spunky." Many a Sunday meeting would find the Gregson Pew shaking in silent laughter. Her quick wit will surely be missed. Survivors include her spouse, Hugh Sennott Gregson of Orem, UT; son, Geoffrey (Cindy) Gregson and their 6 children of Pleasant Grove, UT; daughter, Elise (Rory) Hanson and their 4 children of Seattle, WA; daughter, Krista (Jeff) Walker and their 3 children of Kingman, AZ; daughter Mindy (Brian) McDermaid and their 3 children of Herriman, UT; and daughter, Teresa (Peter) Tennis and their 5 children of Saudi Arabia; as well as brothers, David and Richard Jensen and sister, Mary Jensen Sommer and several sisters and brothers in law .
