Obituary

Lois Marie Williamson Calder, age 92, passed away peacefully August 19, 2018. She was born July 31, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Duncan Stewart Williamson and Marie Fluit Williamson. She attended University of Utah for 3 years then transferred and completed her bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University. She met the love of her life E. Vance Calder and they married in the Salt Lake City temple August 21, 1946. Lois always dreamed of having a large family and had 7 children; Stephen (Bonnie), Joyce (Michael), Lynn (Sallie), Glenn (Glenda), Alan, Teresa (James) and Terry. Lois was the grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vance and two children Stephen and Alan. In Life, Lois was a person of great faith. She loved to serve and served in many church callings including working in the Mount Timpanogos temple. Lois's father owned a family business selling shoes where she learned about hard work at a young age. After marrying Vance she moved from Salt Lake City to Orem and worked hard as a homemaker and taught their children about the life of living on a farm and the value of hard work. Lois also enjoyed a life of adventure. Vance and Lois traveled to all 50 states, 49 of them they drove over the road in their RV, including from Utah to Alaska twice. They also traveled to many foreign countries as well as enjoyed many cruises, but her favorite was camping. They camped at many local campgrounds but one of her favorites was being with family while camping, fishing, and rafting down the river at Flaming Gorge. When getting lost while traveling to destinations, Lois said that they weren't lost it was a site-seeing detour. "We have more friends behind the veil than on this side, and they will hail us more joyfully than you were ever welcomed by your parents and friends in this world; and you will rejoice more when you meet them than you ever rejoiced to see a friend in this life; and then you shall go on from step to step, from rejoicing to rejoicing, and from intelligence and power to another, our happiness becoming more and more exquisite and sensible as we proceed to the words and powers of life." Brigham Young – July 31, 1850  J.D.
