Obituary

Loren Wayne Johnson January 17, 1948 – July 29, 2025

Loren Wayne Johnson passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 77. A proud American, dedicated public servant, and beloved family man, Loren's life was marked by courage, commitment, and deep love.

Born in Orem, Utah, on January 17, 1948, Loren was the youngest child of Francis Lynn Johnson Sr. and Lucille Martin Johnson. As the baby of the family, he was deeply loved and mothered by his older sisters—a bond that brought warmth and strength to his early years and shaped the man he became. To all who knew him, he was fondly called Uncle Wayne. A testament to his warmth and special bond he shared with family across generations.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in Orem, Ut. Loren went on to serve his country with honor. He completed two tours in Vietnam with the United States Navy, later joining the Army Reserve. He also served as an Army recruiter, helping guide others on their path to service. He carried the values of duty and integrity into his civilian career as well.

Loren continued his lifetime of service in law enforcement—as a deputy sheriff, private investigator, and college security guard. He carried himself with integrity and dedication in every role, earning the respect of his peers and community.

Family was the core of Uncle Wayne's heart. He was a devoted father to Brigette, Tina, Wayne Jr., and Elizabeth. He was a proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and was overjoyed to welcome his first great-grandson. His family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was constant and unwavering. He would take in anyone that had a need and treat them like family.

He was preceded in death by Nelda, Zelda, Dianne, Elaine, and Marna—his beloved sisters and guiding lights. He is survived by his brother Frank, who shared a lifelong bond with Loren that remained strong to the end and the many relatives and friends who considered him Uncle Wayne and who will continue carrying forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. As his great-grandchild Robin said, "Great-grandpa and his love will always be in our hearts. We will always carry him with us."

Uncle Wayne was a son, brother, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, shipmate, protector, and friend. This is the end of the watch—signing off. Stand down, sailor. We now have the watch.

Fair winds and following seas, Skipper.

We will never forget you!
