Lorna Jane Clayson died May 15, 2026. She was born the fourth child of Emery Arthur and Clydie Jane Seckinger Clayson on November 17, 1961. Jane grew up surrounded by a large family with parents who encouraged her to develop her faith, talents, and independence. Jane enjoyed reading, watercoloring, hand-made bookbinding, crafting, and British literature and history. She loved learning languages and earned a four-year streak of daily language practice.
Jane served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sapporo, Japan from 1989 to 1990. She earned a Master of Arts degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1998.
Jane was employed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Senior Designer in the Scriptures Group responsible for the production of all scriptures and introductory materials in all available languages. Hers were the last hands that touched the scriptures before they went into production. She felt a special calling to the work and strove to make each publication perfect as an offering to the Lord.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Clydie Clayson, and brother-in-law Richard Crites. She is survived by siblings Calvin (Colleen), Cathleen (Bryan) Smith, Alan (Beth), Rosalie Crites, Aaron (Amy), Peter (Beate), and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Jane remained faithful to the Lord all her life and passed peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 23, 2026, 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 865 West 1000 North, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may visit that morning from 10:00 - 10:45am at the church. Interment will be at a later date at the Desert Memorial Park, 801 San Bernardino Blvd, Ridgecrest, CA.
