Obituary

Lt. Col. Ray Don Lazenby passed away in his sleep at 8:50 p.m., Friday February 14, 2020 at the age of 87. He joined his sweetheart on Valentine's Day! His wife Beulah May Clark Lazenby passed away on July 30, 2017. Dad was born into a loving family as the fifth child on 22 March 1932. His siblings were a still born son, Amy Lazenby Beck (DeWayne), Vivian Max Lazenby, Lawrence Arthur Berger Lazenby (Teresa), Leland Demoss Lazenby, Ferrell Curtis Lazenby (Marba) and Norman Kay Lazenby, also Patricia Lee Black Lazenby Burgener (Melvin), Elizabeth Sue Hahn Lazenby Hamby (Thomas). He graduated high school in Salina in 1950. In 1951 he married the love of his life Beulah, daughter of Theo DeVerl Clark and Beulah Josephine Chadwick Clark, in the Manti Temple for eternity. Then he continued his education at Utah State University getting his bachelor's degree of science in Agriculture. After an amazing career in the military of 21 years and moving 21 times, he got a degree in genealogy at Brigham Young University. He worked for BYU as a genealogist. Ray and Beulah were loving parents of eight children: Donna Rae Lazenby Hall (Barry), Marlene Lazenby Mathison (Johnny), Ronald Clark Lazenby (Latricia), Carma Lou Lazenby Calder (Eric), Sandra Mae Lazenby Spohn (Cliff), Denise Annette Lazenby Beasley (Brian), Lois Renee Lazenby Pratt (Michael), Steven Paul Lazenby (Lara). Ray was a loving father and husband. He was devoted to taking care of his wife until she passed 2 ½ years ago. He is loved by parents, wife, eight children, 35 grandchildren and 87 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served three missions with his wife to Seoul, Korea, Washington D.C. Temple and London, England. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, one grandchild, Corporal Clifford Adams Spohn III and one great grandchild Keagan Trust Etchison. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 21, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at the Orem 2nd Ward chapel, 80 South 280 East, Orem. Friends and family may visit Thursday, February 20, 2020, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and prior to the services on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT 84065. Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 72.
