Obituary

Luella Jo White (1947 - 2024)

Luella Jo White, 77, of Orem, Utah, lived a full and beautiful life before passing away on October 29, 2024, returning to her Father in Heaven.

Jo was born in Ogden, Utah, in 1947 to Weston and Mary Jane Timothy and grew up in Kaysville. She was the youngest of five children (Laddie, Lamar, Joyce, and Elizabeth). Jo attended Davis High School, then went on to Brigham Young University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics and Early Childhood Development.

On December 20, 1968, Jo married John "Jack" Alan White in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were happily married for 55 years, and Jack was the love of Jo's life. Together, they raised six children: Todd, Jason (Melodie), Jeremy (Sara), Weston (Jennise), Jessica (Travis), and Brady (Kellie). Their family has since grown to include 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Jo was known for her creativity and her love of sewing. She used her talents to establish her own drapery and upholstery business, pouring her heart into her work for over 40 years. Jo crafted custom shorts for her kids' basketball teams, countless costumes, and in her later years, she lovingly pieced quilts for each of her grandchildren.

She delighted in planning family events and gatherings, bringing people together with friendly competitions and thoughtful prizes. Her enthusiasm shone through at the annual Labor Day family reunion, featuring Olympic-style events, basketball games, pickleball tournaments, and corn hole competitions.

Jo's philosophy was to create a home where her children would always want to be. She was dedicated to family traditions, including dipping chocolates, making Christmas pajamas, and hosting family Sunday dinners.

A wonderful cook, Jo was known for her delicious apple pie, roast beef with mashed potatoes, pizza, and chicken dumplings.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Laddie, Lamar, and Joyce; her son Todd. and grandson Jimmer. We look forward to the day we can be with you again, Mom.
