Obituary

Lyle Cluff Tillett was born on November 26, 1933 in Bluewater New Mexico to Lillith Cluff and James Leanard Tillett. He was the second son of 4 born to Lillith. He was told that he was born in the back of a trading post that was family owned. He was preceded in death by his brothers Leon Tillett, Martin Nielsen, both his parents, his first born son James Tillett, his oldest daughter Nadine Tillett Haderlie and his first wife Leah Virginia Passey Tillett.

Dad was raised in New Mexico and Arizona. He graduated from High school in Mesa, Arizona. While in Mesa he was drafted into the Army branch of the military during the Korean war. While serving in the military, they found out he had worked in a bakery and assigned him to be a cook in the mess hall. While in the military, his one main memory that he shared a lot was being posted in Alaska. He talked frequently about that time and how much he loved Alaska.

When he finished his military service he was called to serve in the South Australia Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He said that at that time Australia was divided into 2 missions, the North and the South and was divided by the railroad. He loved serving there and shared many stories of his time in Australia.

After serving his mission he returned home to Mesa and was introduced to Leah by his mom. Lilith and Leah both worked in a clothing factory and that is how Leah and Lyle met. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple and had 9 children together. From oldest to youngest, Nadine (deceased) and Elwin Haderlie, Karen and Matthew (deceased) Deem, James (deceased) Tillett, Gordon and Renee Tillett, Russell and Mindy Tillett, Laura and Melvin Gull, Kristi and Christopher Jones, Jenifer Bybee (SO Joseph Robertson) and Holly and Brain Thaxton. He had 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren that he loved.

Lyle was known for his great sense of humor, his ability to tell a story and draw you in when telling it, and an awesome speaker. He loved to serve family, friends, neighbors and even strangers. He loved going on long bike rides with his sons and teasing his daughters. He loved sports and had refereed many games including football, basketball, soccer, and baseball. He would go running at the local high school and would take all his teen kids with him.

After the passing of his first wife he met and married our dear step mom Jacoba (Coby) Tillett. He was smitten at first sight. They dated and were later married in the Provo, Utah temple. Dad loved Coby dearly. She was his saving grace. Dad always put Coby first in their relationship and truly loved her as much as he had loved Leah. Without Coby we (his children) would not have had him for the last 14 years.

He died peacefully knowing that Coby will be financially OK, with a brand new car to get her around. He will be missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of many and helped shape our lives into what they are today. WE LOVE YOU DADDY!!!!
