Lynda Kay (Mathews) Court peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on September 11 th 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 23, 1944 in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Burbank, California and developed an amazing work ethic early in life. She worked hard to become a licensed cosmetologist by the time she was 18 years old. After working a few years, she moved up to Utah to attend BYU, where she met her husband, Grant. They were married on July 28 th , 1967 and recently celebrated their 51 st wedding anniversary. Together they raised their 4 children in Burbank and then moved to Orem, Utah in 1995. Lynda's great loves in life were God, her family, and her country. She selflessly put the needs of her family and people around her before her own. She had a great love for beautiful music and was a very talented pianist and organist. She had a keen eye for detail and always critiqued Grant's artwork before it was considered finished. Throughout her entire life, Lynda lived faithfully and served faithfully in various callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For the past 10 years, she has worked tirelessly with humanitarian aid, serving every week to help with various projects. Lynda is survived by her husband Owen Grant Court and her four children, Matthew (Kim Dunn) Court, Jennifer (Kyle) Clingo, Melissa (Will) Carr and Daniel (Angela Allphin) Court. She is also survived by her brother Gary (June) Mathews and her 18 grandchildren. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, Mont & Opal Mathews and her sister Madelyn Hanson. Lynda and her family are so grateful to those who provided the needed medical care for her the last six years of her life. The appreciation we have for the compassion, kindness and expert care provided by all cannot be adequately expressed. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Northridge 14th Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1875 N 280 W in Orem Utah, with a viewing Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery under the care of the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home - Orem.
