Obituary

Marcia Kay Croft Mangum, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away on October 19, 2026, in Orem, Utah, at the age of 78. She was born on July 27, 1948, in Provo, Utah, to Evan Croft and Grace Hildy Croft. Marcia was one of five daughters. Her sisters are Faye, Evelyn, Olivia, and Pamela.

Marcia grew up in Provo and graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1966. She attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a degree in elementary education in 1970. As a young girl, she loved to dance. She played clarinet in her high school band and the BYU Cougar Marching Band, and participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. After her children were grown, she worked as a substitute teacher for many years.

Marcia met Kirt Lee Mangum at BYU freshman orientation in the fall of 1966. While Kirt served his mission, they kept in touch through letters and grew closer despite being apart. After his return, they were married and sealed for time and all eternity on January 28, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. Marcia and Kirt were inseparable throughout their life together. They loved doing everything together, and their favorite pastime might simply have been being together.

Family was the center of Marcia's life. She and Kirt raised ten children, seven sons and three daughters: Randy (Darcie Johnson), Gary (Angie Johnson), Mark (Aubrey Hundley), Rick (Andrea Coombs), Wayne (Desiree Welcker), Ivan (Nicole Mitchell), Angela (Justin Hemingway), Camille (Darrell Wyatt), Terri (Ryan Robertson), and Brian (Audrey Hatch). Their family has grown to include 39 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with five more great-grandchildren on the way. Two of her grandchildren preceded her in death.

Marcia devoted herself to being there for her children and making their home a place of love and comfort. She spent countless hours taking them to sports practices, scouting activities, school events, and friends. She helped with their newspaper routes, involved them in gardening and yard work, and taught them the value of hard work while encouraging them to save their earnings for their missions. She loved caring for her flowerbeds and her roses.

Marcia had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved reading her scriptures each day and studying them with her family. She enjoyed serving in her Church callings, including working with Cub Scouts and helping with Girls Camp. She and Kirt encouraged their children to prepare for missions, and many of their children and grandchildren have served throughout the world. For years, Marcia worked to learn Spanish in preparation for serving a mission with Kirt. When Kirt retired, they were called to serve a Spanish-speaking mission in Laredo, Texas. They served for two years, loved the people they met, and enjoyed serving together.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Kirt; their ten children and their spouses; and her sisters Evelyn, Olivia, and Pamela.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, October 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A second viewing will be held Wednesday, October 28, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held at the chapel at 95 North 600 West, Orem, Utah 84057.

Marcia will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion to Kirt, and her faith in Jesus Christ. Her family will carry forward the example she set and the love she shared throughout her life.
