Marie Gish Crowley, 82, of Orem, Utah, passed away surrounded by her family on August 4, 2017 due to complications following emergency open heart surgery. She was born November 12, 1934 to Albert Michael and Melba (Dalley) Gish in San Gabriel, California. Marie married Lionel Paul Crowley on August 8, 1953 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple for time and all eternity, after which they started and raised their family in Southern California. In 1976 they moved to Provo, Utah, and have continuously lived in the Provo-Orem area since then, thoroughly enjoying their posterity together through 64 years of marriage. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Marie served as chorister in nearly every ward they lived, as well as an Ordinance Worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple for many years. As an accomplished musician, Marie sang with her siblings in a performing group, played the piano, and also played the bass violinin the Utah Valley Symphony for many years. Her greatest love was supporting her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their concerts, recitals, sporting events, plays, productions, etc, and made it to almost every one (as well as recording most of them), for which we are grateful! She was intensely patriotic, politically involved, and loved listening to talk radio. Her family will greatly miss her boundless hospitality, nurturing kindness, homemade soups and bread, contagious laughter, willingness to drop everything to serve her family, and most of all her warmth and love. Marie is survived by her husband, Lionel Paul Crowley, and her children; Steven (Nancy) Crowley of Provo UT, Loriann (David) Gabrielsen of Draper UT, Scott (Ann) Crowley of Orem UT, Teresa (Ed) Kocherhans of Orem UT, Leslie (Lawrence) Packer of Lindon UT, and Julie (Jace) Chan of Orem UT, as well as 42 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, her younger brother Larry Gish, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings, one grandson, two great-grandsons, and many beloved dogs, cats, and canaries. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the LDS Chapel on the corner of 1200 N. 800 E. Orem, Utah. Viewing will be Friday, August 11 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. Orem, Utah, as well as August 12 from 9:00-10:30 am prior to the funeral in the Chapel Relief Society room. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
